Christian Pre-School

"Christian Pre-School is a ministry of Dobbs Ferry Lutheran Church grounded in the word of God, offering a Christian-based, non-denominational pre-school experience that actively engages and encourages the faith lives of our families."

This is the mission statement for our pre-school, which has been a part of our Rivertown communities for the past 32 years. As a Christian Pre-School, we are delighted to be able to share many of the stories and teachings of the Bible in a way our pre-schoolers can understand. Our primary goals are that your children have knowledge of the love God has for them, a belief in their individual abilities, a yearning to discover the world around them, a respect for others and for objects, and an independence that enables decision-making and verbalization of ideas.

During your child’s time with us, he or she will have the opportunity to use plenty of art and craft materials, sing songs and play musical games, listen to stories and participate in discussions, run and play in our indoor gym or our large playground outside, enjoy a snack, and spend time in our Discovery Room where we discover God’s world together through 9 different curriculum themes. Our school year begins the second week of September and ends the first week of June.

We offer 5 day (Monday through Friday), 3 day (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday), and 2 day (Monday and Friday) programs for 3 and 4 year olds. Our youngest students, our 2.5-3 year olds can enroll in our Busy Beginners…a 2 day program with a curriculum just for their age level. Each class has a teacher and an aide. Families are assigned as aides in the classroom three (3) times a year so they can have a chance to see their child and his/her friends “in action”.

We also have a Two Together program on Friday mornings from 10:00-11:15 am. This is a drop-in program for children and an adult family member/caretaker. While the children play, adults take part in a parenting discussion facilitated by one of our staff members. Topics are decided by the group and have incorporated such issues as Sibling Rivalry, Eating Issues, Speech and Language, etc. There is currently no fee for this program, but a free-will offering basket is provided for donations.
