Pastor Scott J. Paradise
The Reverend Scott J. Paradise begins serving as the pastor of Dobbs Ferry Lutheran Church (DFLC) in Dobbs Ferry, New York on September 1, 2009.
Pastor Scott comes to DFLC after having served as the pastor of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Mount Jackson, Virginia since January of 2003, but this is not his first time in Westchester County. Both Pastor Scott and his wife, Christine, attended Concordia College in Bronxville, New York. Pastor Scott graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, with a concentration in writing and communications, and then worked in the college textbook publishing business for two companies in New York City from 1990 to 1995.
Pastor Scott graduated from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia in 1999 with a Master of Divinity degree. Pastor Scott served his pastoral internship year at Zion Lutheran Church on Staten Island, New York. Pastor Scott was ordained in September of 1999 and served his first call as the assistant pastor at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in the Long Island community of Plainview, New York.
Pastor Scott grew up in the suburban Philadelphia community of Croydon in Bucks County, Pennsylvania (although he graduated from Life Center Academy in Florence, New Jersey). He and Christine (née Stahl), who is a musician and elementary school teacher, married in November of 1993. They are the proud “parents” of a smart—and handsome—cat named Patrick and have two smart and beautiful nieces.
In his spare time, Pastor Scott enjoys exercising (almost daily), cooking (and eating!), reading (mystery novels for true escape), doing crossword puzzles (New York Times up to Wednesday or Thursday if he’s on a roll), watching baseball (always striving to remain neutral on the Mets versus Yankees debate by retreating into his congenital affiliation with the Phillies), and exploring wine and single-malt scotches (far too complicated to reduce anything to parentheses!).
